Her mother is of Spanish and English ancestry. The four siblings of Taylor-Joy are from her father's ex-married partners. They moved with the family out of Buenos Aires to Victoria, London as Taylor-Joy reached the age of six. Taylor-Joy says the move into London was difficult and she was unable to take the time to learn English in order to prevent returning to Argentina. She then enrolled at Queen's Gate School and studied ballet and performed in school's productions. Then she dropped out of high school at 16 to pursue an acting career.
